The Virtual Archive holds documents, images and registers preserved in the Municipal Historical Archive of Lecce.
Where heritage comes alive
The Municipal Historical Archive of Lecce safeguards the city’s history and shares it with its people: documents, images and accounts that speak to students, residents, researchers and visitors alike.
At the former Augustinian Convent and through the Virtual Archive, the past can be explored in ways that are accessible, immersive and engaging — both in person and online.
Because knowing the past is a way of understanding who we are today, and of feeling part of a shared story.
We are History.

Holographic Theatre
The Holographic Theatre is an immersive installation that projects three-dimensional images without the need for headsets: lifelike holograms of people, places and objects. Inspired by the 19th-century Pepper’s Ghost technique, it has been designed as an innovative tool for storytelling.
The first production hosted, Preghiera alla Santa, recounts the transfer of Lecce’s patronage from Saint Irene to Saint Oronzo. A choral performance born of archival research, theatre direction and artistic production, it draws directly on the Libro Rosso preserved in the Historical Archive.
